I’m scared and I think I might need help…

We can help!

Hey, first of all don’t feel “weird” about asking for help. That possibly may be the only way to make a positive change you know?

Here is some information for you….

This website has a great list of phone numbers and agencies in our area that can help! Check it out: http://www.saginawlibrary.org/yellowpages.html

National suicide prevention lifeline: http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org

Question:

  • “I have a friend that drinks alcohol all the time. I am worried that she might have a problem. Are there any signs to look for? What can I do to help her?”

Answer:

  • If she drinks all the time she does have a problem…
  • Tell her what you think. She will most likely deny it, be irritated that you even brought it up, but she will hear you…
  • Try to get her to get help, or at least talk to a trusted adult who can help. Like a school counselor or her parents.
  • Don’t be afraid to get involved. It really can make a positive difference!

Don’t wait-get help. Talk to a parent, doctor, teacher or anyone you trust. For information and referrals, contact SAMHSA’s Health Information Network at : 877-SAMHSA-7 (877) 726-4727 TDD (800) 487-4889 linea gratis en espanol (877)-762-8432

But I want to fit in…I won’t fit in if I don’t drink

“Why would you want to fit in when you were born to stand out!”

Come on now…why not “flip the script?” Why not look at things just a little differently….

Why not?

  • Choose to be a leader
  • Choose to be around people who share similar thoughts and feelings about not drinking alcohol. Not everyone thinks it is “cool."

Dream Crushers

Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD’s) have the potential to crush your dreams…

“Don’t choose to be ordinary, choose to be extraordinary!” Choose to be alcohol and drug free!

Choose to celebrate your middle school and high school days with fun school activities, good friends that really care about you and your health, and happy memories of times that you will cherish always…

Understand that all choices have consequences. All actions have consequences.

It is up to you if those consequences will be positive or not….
